A small town mourns the recent loss of one of its brightest young souls. But the fog that rolls in nightly and the mysterious sounds from her fiancee's library call to question just where that soul might have gone.
Laid to Rest is a journey through the pain of losing a loved one, and being able to let them go when you desperately want to hold them there with you.
This piece was written for Folklore Game Jam 2020, and features a depiction of mullo, Romani undead spirits who linger in the world of the living for one reason or another.
Laid to Rest is system agnostic and roleplay focused, without combat stats or enemies.

"Laid to Rest" is a beautiful game featuring Romani folklore that is both a game unto its own and a beautiful addition to your existing TTRPG experience. The game is written in a narrative and system-agnostic fashion where players are guided through the author’s prose, beginning with a description of the small town of Kruyev and its residents.
As the game progresses, players further explore the eerie town with its illusions, trickery, and melancholy. Players come across a mullo, a spirit returned from beyond the grave. The game reaches a climax when interacting with its two main characters and their nuanced relationship, Asena and Marta.
If you are interested in bringing Romani folklore into an existing TTRPG campaign, “Laid to Rest” gives you an encounter to insert your campaign for your players to explore. The game provides instructions for using the content in a culturally appropriate way.
